What are the SAT and ACT?
SAT and ACT
The Standardized Assessment Test (SAT) is a college entrance exam that most, if not ALL, universities require for the admission process Students are tested in mathematics and evidence-based reading and writing, and both sections have a grading scale of 200-800, meaning that the total maximum score that can be obtained is 1600.
The American College Test (ACT) is also a college entrance exam that is accepted by most, if not ALL, universities. Similarly to the SAT, students are tested in reading, mathematics, English, and science. The grading scale is 1-36.
SAT SUBJECT TESTS
There are 20 different multiple-choice standardized tests administered by The College Board on individual subjects, usually taken to improve a student's credentials for admission to colleges. When you take the SAT Subject Tests, you must select three subjects in at least two different areas.

Helpful Test Hints
Majoring in Math or Science?
If you plan to major in Math or Science and apply to UCs and/or private universities, it is recommended you take the SAT Subject Test. When you take the SAT subject, you must select three subjects in at least two different areas. If you decide to take the Math section, it must be Math-section 2.
SAT Subject Tests
It is highly recommended that all students take the Spanish subject test. The university will take the top two subject scores in the same sitting.
